Abstract:

In the past, people thought fester was normal and the pus was considered to be "commendable". Under this circumstances, the uncomplicated healing of the wound was worse than expected. Doctor Joseph Lister had an opposite opinion and put forward the antiseptic method which dramastically decreased the death rate of the patients.
