Abstract:

Over the years, the PCB has evolved into a more complex beast, and now is used in a variety of applications where the board is more than a carrier for the components. It can be a mechanical strengthening for the unit, it can be part of the screening for the components, for example, emc issues can be covered by burying some of the components in layers inside the PCB. So it's more than just a carrier for components now.
