History:The Blood Group
Before people were cognizant of blood groups, only about 50% of blood transfusions produced the right result and doctors still didin't know what determined success or failure. Vienna, around the turn of this century, Carl discovered the human blood groups and found the reason for some unsuccessful blood transfusions. Today blood is routinely examined for up to three blood group systems. Blood transfusions are now standard practice and have saved many lives.
