Medically， cretinism means you are retarded in mind， you are grossly mentally retarded. For severe cretinism， people even cannot walk. It will drag you all around until the children cannot survive. Twenty years ago， an American specialist came to the village of Tibet and found 13% of people here were suffering from cretinism. He knew that the problem in Tibet was iodine deficiency. By a lot of visits to China in that 20 years， he won the trust and cooperation from Chinese goverment. Then he led an international team of doctors to come here and help the people with cretinism a lot.
