Each year over 250,000 young people from newborn to 17-year-olds are burned severely enough to require medical attention. Over 15,000 will have to be hospitalized. Eleven hundred will die. A quick arrival at a hospital can spell the difference between life and death for a severely burned youngster, but prompt medical attention is only the beginning of the story. Treatment can often be a drawn out, painful and complicated process, but advances in medical science are making a dramatic difference in the quality of burn children's lives.
