Environment:Wetlands
Wetlands are areas of land temporarily or permanently covered with shallow water. Wetlands come in many shapes and sizes. In tidal areas the most common are mangroves. These distinctive forests lie on the fringes of bays and tidal rivers. Salt marshes exist in areas where the soil has very high levels of salt. Salt mudflats feature muddy areas, exposed when the tide is low and flooded when it's high. And wetlands need not necessarily be wet all the time.
