The southern California coast is a remarkable experiment in the human use and misuse of coastal resources. The blessing and the curse of the urban runoff problem is that each one of us is sort of causing it. The biggest problem with wetlands in the nation and especially in California is that 90% of them have been either altered or destroyed in the last 100 years.
