Bioscience:Microbial Diversity
The diversity of microbes and the places in which they live is truly astonishing. Look at any environment on Earth， you'll find microbes living there. Each unique metabolism allows an organism to exploit the resources of a particular environment. Though we all share the same chemical code of life， DNA， all life forms differ genetically. If a mutation is ＳＥＬＥＣＴed for， that is， if the environment changes to give the mutated organism a ＳＥＬＥＣＴive advantage， then the mutation not only survives， but eventually spreads. In this program， we'll discover how microbes come to be so diverse， and how those differences are driven by their metabolic variety.
