Geoscience:Science Workshop — Tsunami
Tsunamis in the Mediterranean are always the result of movements of the earth's tectonic plates. Two continental plates are in collision. And whenever there was a tsunami, there was also an earthquake along the fault line, or else a slippage down the side of a volcano. The causes are always the same: one continental plate is pushing over the other the whole time. But there are almost nowhere on the Mediterranean coast having any effective sea-defences against tsunamis.
