Physics:Chaos, Science and the Unexpected
The onset of a heart attack, the crash of a jetliner, a sudden storm — events like these occur without warning. On the other hand, we can predict the time of the sunrise far into the future. And the swing of a pendulum follows a known unchanging cycie. Scientists and mathematicians are now using computer graphics to determine just what in nature is predictable and what is random, and to explore that state called chaos that lies at the borderline between these two extremes.
