Communication:Electronics in the Future Electronic Transport
Typically 20 years ago, the electronics on the vehicle was about 5% of the overall electrical cost of the car. Today it's more like 30% and it's increasing rapidly. We can see a situation within less than 10 years when electronics will be essential for the delivery of every feature and function on a vehicle. An average car has 4 or 5 modules linked together via a multiplex bus system. This allows the modules to communicate with each other in much the same way as a computer network.
