Society:Skis to the North Pole
Ben Saunders planned an expedition of skiing solo to the North Pole. He wanted to go right across, on his own, from Russia to the North Pole, and then on to Canada. No one has made a complete crossing of the Arctic Ocean on their own. Two Norwegians did it as a team in 2000. No one's done it solo. Very famous, very accomplished Italian mountaineer, Reinhold Messner, tried it in 1995, and he was rescued after a week.
