It is a familiar sight, cars whooshed through intersection after the lights turn red. So familiar in fact that more than 2 million collisions occur each year at intersections in the USA. The economic price of running a red light is 7 billion US dollars a year in medical cures, but there is a more significant cost which is unmeasurable. In this programme, we'll take a look at the camera technology that changing it by catching red light ruuners in the act, and we'll see what car makers would do in order to keep us safe.
