Environment:Coastal Dunes: Ecology and Rehabilitation
Coastal dune ecosystems are complex environments. They support a vast array of life from tiny microbes to dense rainforests, and are tightly interdependent systems. Sand dunes are naturally fluctuating ecosystems, but are also highly vulnerable to human-induced change. In many places, human activity has impacted heavily on dune ecology. Dunes have been left bare and unstable, and our coastline is vulnerable to storm damage.
