Since the dawn of civilisation， no challenge has been too great for us in our efforts to control our most vital resource – water. But faith in the triumph of technology of nature is dwindling. After a century of massive river damming projects， this approach is proving to be both a blessing and a curse. In general， we cannot just say yes or no to a dam. We must influence its size， the way it's built and how it will affect people.
