Decoration:How did They Build That? —— Taking on the Sea
The sea can be one of the most hostile environments known to man. Storm winds, huge waves and salt water all take their toll on any structure, either here on the coast or out there. To cope with these threats, we've had to find solutions. In this programme, we investigate the gigantic flood gates protecting Rotterdam, in the Netherlands, visit the Troll offshore platform, the largest structure ever to be moved across the face of the earth, but we begin in Devon, Southwest England.
