If there were no plate tectonics on the Earth， the Earth would be a lot like Venus. All the features of Earth are there for a good reason， and usually a plate tectonic reason. The volcanoes， the earthquakes， all of that is somehow tied to tectonics. It’s hard to look at anything on the Earth’s surface without actually thinking about plate tectonics.
