Astronomy:Nicolaus Copernicus and Heliocentricity
Man has long since sought to explain the world and the heavens above. Before Copernicus, the picture of the world is termed geo-centric. Copernicus showed that the planets could be explained by the heliocentric hypothesis, in other words the sun is at the centre of the universe and all the planets revolve around it. Copernicus took a broader view, and thereby opened the way to our modern image of the world.
