Astronomy:The Water Planet
If we didn't have water in large quantities on the surface of the Earth, with its moderating temperature capabilities, we wouldn't be able to have life as we know it. But perhaps most significant is that slightly more than 70% of it is covered in liquid water. And indeed a case can reasonably be made that it is water, more than anything else, that truly defines and distinguishes the seemingly misnamed planet earth.
