Following the jumbo jet， Concorde and the first Airbus 20 years ago， the A340 US new aircraft is ready to take off for the first time from the runway of French airdrome. At the controls are Piere Bob and the Airbus industry test crew， it's a great monment for the European aviation industry. In the A340， the Europeans at last have a long-haul aircraft of their own， and besides that a complete family of aircraft would allow them to compete with their great American rival Boeing.
