Agriculture:Gene Technology in Agriculture
Genetically modified food and organisms are with us now. Of the world's 30 most-eaten plants, every one is being re-worked in genetics' laboratories. There are tomatoes with added genes to enhance flavour, cotton varieties with built in insect protection, and soybeans engineered to resist weed killers. In this program we explore how and why two scientists are developing genetically modified organisms. We examine the ethical debate surrounding gene technology and agriculture.
