Society:Finding Information You Need
Over one hundred years ago, in America, a man named Melvil Dewey invented a system of arranging books according to their content. As a student, Melvil Dewey had difficulty finding the books he wanted to read in the library. He knew the expression "As simple as A, B, C", and he realized that 1, 2, 3 was even simpler, so he based his idea on the decimal system of numbering. The system is called the Dewey Decimal Classification System, and it is used by most libraries to arrange their non-fiction books.
